Before purchasing these speakers I looked at lots and lots of HTIB systems at HH Greg, Best Buy and several places online.I was almost sold on an Onkyo HTIB, but found these first. For the money(I paid $300) these speakers are lots better than any HTIB I could find. Of course the Jamo s506 system doesn't come with a receiver, speaker wire, or a sub woofer but with less than an additional $300 you can get all of these items and have a much better system. My parents paid nearly as much as I did for a Samsung HTIB and it doesn't even compare. HTIB's that contain a real audio/visual receiver will cost more and still have poor speakers.
As for other speaker sets such as these, I haven't found any that come close for the price. Sure you can spend more on more expensive speakers that sound better but, if you are on a budget these are well worth the money. I won't bother trying to explain how they sound. I would but, it would require me trying to craft some sort of adjective filled testimony that uses a lot of vague words that really don't mean anything. I would suggest that if you can audition them somewhere, give them a try. If not, you probably don't have a chance to audition many others if any. In the latter case I would begin to compare the physical properties (amount/size of speakers, build/construction quality, etc) of speakers in the same price range.
After using them for right at a month now, I am very pleased with them.
