Tyrese Darnell Gibson is an American singer born in 1978 who performs as Tyrese or Black-Ty. The main thrust of his musical activity is in the R&B and hip-hop genres but he has carved out a successful parallel career as a model and actor. His many recent appearances on film include roles in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Transformers.

The first appearance of his hop-hop persona was on his most recent album, Alter Ego which was released in 2006 and features one CD of R&B music (as Tyrese) and one CD of hip-hop (as Black-Ty).
More recently he has been collaborating with Ginuwine and Tank in the supergroup TGT.
